NIDAA

The Story behind NIDAA

In the heart of Sudan, a passionate group of individuals united around a shared purpose: to ignite change within their communities. They recognized the immense potential of every individual, who despite facing numerous challenges, held the key to a brighter future. As we brainstormed names for our organization, we sought one that would resonate deeply with our mission and inspire action among Sudanese people. The word “NIDAA” meaning “call” in Arabic, emerged as the ideal choice. Founded in 1998 and officially registered in Khartoum in 2000 under the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC), NIDAA operates as a non-political, non-governmental, and non-profit organization. Our guiding philosophy centers on community participation and sustainable development, with a particular focus on addressing the needs of the most vulnerable groups in Sudanese society.

Strategic Approaches

Targeted Project Selection

NIDAA prioritizes projects in rural areas across Sudan, with a special focus on regions that have been developmentally overlooked. We particularly aim to assist communities adversely affected by conflict, and tribal disputes, ensuring that our efforts reach those most in need.

Active Community Participation

Community engagement is a cornerstone of our rural development strategy. We actively involve the target population at every stage of the project lifecycle—from planning to implementation and evaluation. This participatory approach ensures that projects are relevant, culturally sensitive, and aligned with the community’s needs.

Defined Beneficiary Standards

We have established clear and specific criteria to identify direct beneficiaries of our projects. These standards are designed to ensure that we effectively reach the most vulnerable populations, including: Women, Low-Income , Low-Income Family Conflict-Affected

Focus on Sustainability

NIDAA integrates sustainability into the design and execution of all projects. Our aim is to empower participants and local institutions so they can continue the project’s benefits independently, fostering long-term resilience and self-sufficiency.

Commitment to Gender Equity

NIDAA is dedicated to promoting gender equity within all our initiatives. We ensure fair representation of all gender groups in project design and implementation. As part of our affirmative action strategy, we place a stronger emphasis on the inclusion, empowerment, and active participation of women, recognizing their crucial role in community development.

Environmental Stewardship

To protect the environment and preserve natural resources, NIDAA prioritizes environmental awareness in all its projects. This includes integrating environmental education, promoting sustainable farming practices, and organizing awareness and hygiene campaigns to foster a culture of environmental responsibility.

Where We Serve

NIDAA proudly serves communities across all states of Sudan, with established branches in key regions including Khartoum, River Nile, Red Sea “Port Sudan”, Darfur region, and Kordofan region.

Each branch is dedicated to empowering local youth and fostering community development initiatives tailored to the unique challenges of their respective areas.

Recently, we expanded our reach beyond Sudan by opening an office in Kampala, Uganda, furthering our mission to support and connect with Sudanese communities in the diaspora and collaborate on regional development efforts.
